Privacy & data handling — plain English

The short version

Your statements are parsed and re-calculated entirely in your browser. They are never uploaded to us, never stored on a server, and never used to train any model. We couldn't show your transaction history to anyone even if asked — we never receive it.

What we never see

When you use the check, the parsing libraries (pdf.js, SheetJS) run inside your browser tab. The following never leave your device:

Statement files and their contents
Transaction dates, descriptions and amounts
Account numbers, BSBs, balances and loan details you enter
Names and addresses typed into the letter of demand

There is no upload endpoint in the application. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's network inspector while running a check and watch — no statement data is transmitted.

The lifecycle of a statement on Offsetcheck

You select a file. The browser reads it into the tab's memory. Nothing is sent anywhere.

The engine re-calculates. Transactions are classified, daily balances rebuilt, and interest checked — all locally.

You see the verdict. Results, charts and any letter draft exist only in the tab and in files you choose to export yourself.

It's gone. Close the tab and everything is erased. Or press Clear my data at any point to wipe the session on the spot. Retention period: 0 days, by design.

The two things we do collect

1. Anonymous page analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and product events (for example, "demo loaded" or "check run"). These events carry no statement content, no figures from your loan, and no personal identifiers. GA4 does not log full IP addresses. This tells us whether the product is useful; it tells us nothing about your money.

2. Messages you send us

If you use the contact form, your name, email and message are delivered to contact@offsetcheck.com via our form processor (FormSubmit). We use it only to reply. Please don't paste statements or account numbers into the form — we don't need them to help you.

No AI training. No third-party processing.

Your documents are not sent to any AI service and are not used to train, fine-tune or improve any model — ours or anyone else's. The checking engine is deterministic arithmetic running in your browser: daily interest = (loan balance − offset balance) × annual rate ÷ 365. There is nothing to train on, because nothing reaches us.

Your controls

Don't upload. The runs the full check on a fictional loan, so you can evaluate Offsetcheck without touching a real statement.
Redact first. The check only needs dates, descriptions, amounts and balances. Black out names, addresses and account numbers before uploading — the result is identical.
Clear my data. A button on the check page wipes every file, figure and letter field from the tab immediately.

Changes to this page

If our data practices change, this page changes first — with a new date at the top. The principle won't: the less of your data we hold, the less there is to lose.
